Criminal Defense Attorney 678-407-9300

Question: My daughter received an Arrest Warrant Application Hearing Notification in the mail yesterday. It is for Theft by Shoplifting(M). She said she did not steal anything but she was with 2 people that had. She is 18 years old and was getting ready to go in the Air Force. 1) Can we have the court date moved? We have a cruise scheduled for 6/1 - 6/5 and the court date is 6/8, she will not have time to get a public defender? 2) What is the likely outcome if she did not steal and she was just there with them? 3) She is Telling me that she is not missing the cruise and she will not get a Lawyer, I say bad move. Any advice will help.

Answer: Multi-day cruise and public defender do not even go together. The judge is NOT going to appoint an attorney for your daughter when she or you or both get back from your multi-day cruise. So, I recommend that you retain an attorney.
